Discover Life in America 2011 Conference, Ball

From their website

"Discover Life in America is a small non-profit organization based in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.  It is our goal to learn all we can about the estimated 100,000 species of life in the park, and share that information with scientists and the public."

Their 2011 conference is scheduled for April 7th to 9th. And we're intrigued by their now well-known "Salamander Ball." Held at Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies on the evening of the 8th, this event is open to both adults and children and features live music, a beauty contest, a scavenger hunt, live auctions, hors d'oevres and beverages. So, to be honest, we are not particularly familiar with this organization, but, wow, they sure seem to have an unusual fundraiser going! Sounds like fun, doesn't it?
